As a funny note, it started out as Duke Nuk em, but was quickly released as Duke Nuk um because of a Captain Planet and the Planeteers character with the "Duke Nukem" name. The Duke Nukem series: not counting spin-offs, Duke Nukem, Duke Nukem II, Duke Nukem 3D and Duke Nukem Forever. The numbers don't indicate proper order at all (for example, the "1" in Battlefield 1 stands for World War I), and there's bound to be a lot of confusion over the two games set in The Vietnam War now.

The Battlefield series goes as thus: Battlefield 1942, Battlefield: Vietnam, Battlefield 2 (which was spun off onto consoles as Battlefield 2: Modern Combat), Battlefield 2142, Battlefield: Bad Company, Battlefield Heroes, Battlefield 1943, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (which now has an Expansion Pack titled Battlefield: Bad Company 2: Vietnam), Battlefield Play4Free, Battlefield 3, Battlefield 4, Battlefield Hardline, Battlefield 1, and Battlefield V.Obviously never the 64th installment, unless you get creative with spin-offs in order to count Mario that way. Little did they know it would come to have unexpected symbolism of another kind. Continuing this, the title " Duke Nukem Forever" was meant to be a play on the number four. Even more likely if this also happened to be the third installment. Many game franchises were simply given the subtitle "3D" for their first 3D title (as were quite a few that started around this time).
